Cultural Web Paradigm

The cultural web is used to analyse the current cultural postion of the business so the suitable strategies can be devised.

1. SYMBOLS.
Symbols are the company logos, offices, uniforms etc. it tell us about the environment of the business, kind of  attitude possessed by individuals. Example luxurious offices of directors suggest the status of directors, uniforms suggest the grade of workers. logos may suggest the mission and objective of the business.

2. STORIES.
What we used to tell others about the organization. Stories give us historic experience of the organization. what kind of behavior is required, how to address the particular issue, whom to approach for assistance.

3. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.
How activites and process are organized in the business, by function, by product and by region, kind of business structure horizontal (empowerment) or vertical (bureaucratic), lines of communication.

4. POWER
Ability to influence strategic and operational decisions. what are the dominent individuals, group or department. it necessary to identify key player in order to implement strategy they may become facilitators or blockers of strategic change.

5. CONTROL SYSTEMS
How activties and process are monitored in the organization, like reward, quality, risk and cost controls. are rewards systems are design to encourage required behavior from individuals. how important quality is perceived in the organization, risk management are perceived as part of every one's job description or as separate activity of the organization.

6. ROUTINES AND RITUALS
Behavior expected from individuals and what would be going to happen in particular situation. These are the way of doing work in the organization. How objections are raised and resolved, whether they are resolved in-house confindentialy or publicly through newpapers and television.
